Having entered into a strategic partnership with the US-based NuScale Power,
we will be working together with NuScale to target not only the US, but the global market as a whole for the supply of SMR equipment.

Building of Strategic Partnership

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction entered into a strategic partnership with NuScale Power by making an equity investment amounting to USD 44 million in 2019 and USD 60 million in 2021 into NuScale together with a group of domestic investors. Through NuScale, the company plans to supply SMR equipment worth a minimum USD 3.1 billion to the U.S. and global market.

Development Status

In August 2020, the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) design certification was received for the NuScale SMR, thereby establishing it as the first SMR to have passed all the stages of the U.S. NRC design certification process.

Business Forecast

Our first SMR order is expected to be for the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) project that is being pursued in Idaho, U.S. The commercial operation is slated to start in 2029. In 2022, we expect to start receiving orders and commence manufacturing of the castings & forgings and main equipment.
