  • Turbines/Generators R&D

    Development of Turbine/Generator Models

    Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction aims to develop proprietary and competitive turbine and generator models in line with its business strategy. To this end, the company is building a line-up of turbine and generator models that can meet market needs as well as lead the market.

    Development of LSB (Last Stage Blade)

    The company is building a line-up of highly efficient and large-sized Last Stage Blade (LSB) models in keeping with the line-up of turbine models. Latest computational fluid dynamics are utilized to design blade profile configurations and optimal steam path, and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) is employed in structural and vibration design. Along with this, reliability and performance testing are performed for developed models.

    Development of Key Component Technologies

    Key component technologies required for next-generation high-efficiency turbines and generators are under development. These include, among others, high-efficiency blades, advanced steal, optimal steam path and generator cooling technology.

  • Gas Turbine Development

    Gas Turbine Development

    A gas turbine for power generation consists of a compressor used to supply compressed air, a combustor used to burn compressed air with fuel and a turbine used to convert the expansion of high-pressure, high-temperature combustion gas into rotational force to produce electricity. Gas turbines for power generation have the same driving mechanism as gas turbines for airplanes that produce thrust. Gas turbines for power generation are also clean energy systems capable of utilizing high-temperature gas emitted as a source of thermal energy for industry or housing and producing more electricity in combined cycle designs connected to Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) and steam turbines. We completed the development of 5 MW gas turbines in 2011 and successfully demonstrated them for an eco-friendly gas turbine cogeneration power plant that used biogas from landfills in the metropolitan area in 2013. In recent months, we have been developing high-flow, high-efficiency compressors, low NOx combustors and high-temperature, long-life turbines applicable to the gas turbine market where large-sized, highly efficient gas turbines capable of using multiple types of fuel increasingly gain popularity, with a view to growing as a top-tier OEM producer of large gas turbines.
