Heard of “People are the Future”? I felt drawn to this ad copy and I soon joined Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction in late 2010. I was initially assigned to the Turbine/Generator 1 PM Team where I worked for the Yanbu 2 thermal power plant project in Saudi Arabia for about one year. Now, I am charged with the procurement of turbines and generators for the Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE.
My responsibility for the Yanbu 2 project was quite comprehensive for a new employee, from budget control to schedule management and attending customer meetings. I was able to build many capabilities in just one year. In addition to performing my own duties, I worked with team leaders and other colleagues to understand where I need to build more knowledge and skills and I received necessary education and coaching. I am grateful for the warm attention of my team members and the philosophy of the Doosan Credo that emphasizes talent development.
I think the greatest thing about working as a Doosan employee is that I am always encouraged to challenge my seniors and freely exchange opinions with them instead of working as instructed. Doosan also offers many global programs for new employees. I had a chance to visit Doosan Skoda Power in the Czech Republic and other power plants overseas, which greatly helped me gain knowledge of nuclear and thermal power plants.
I also attended many events held outside the company. I especially felt proud of my company at Doosan Group’s Job Fair and Campus Recruiting, witnessing the passion of job applicants who are prospective Doosan people. As a member of Doosan, I am proud of making contributions to the company’s projects that create value for the world by delivering light and water to those in need.
